Use Your Stand

Hey Everyone...

For those that missed Kinetic Plus, we really missed you! it was an awesome night on Sat loads of fun and an awesome message. Since then my brain has been pondering over the message, especially the bit about the stand. Let me explain!

James spoke brilliantly on how we need to be the light of the world. More than this he spoke about using your stand! In Matthew 5 v 14 it says:
 
14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.
 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
  ( New Living Translation)

We are the light of the world. That's right guys WE ARE! As a light we need to be shining for God, giving hope, love and friendship etc to those who need it most. More then this we need to use our STAND. James was saying on sat night that the stand is our gifts and talents.
We need to use the gifts we have to help shine our light.

My thoughts... He is absolutely right. What good can we do if our light is hidden. What good is it if we abandon the gifts and talents we have. I love sports and all through my life I have played many. Not to boast ( but I will anyway) I am pretty good at most sports. Through this I have had the privilege of helping young people learn how to play sports like football, volleyball and basketball.

If I hadn't decided to invest in the gifts I had then I wouldn't of had the experience of coaching people and helping people realise the benefits and fun of sport.

Just like this (kind of) we have the chance to use our gifting and talent to help inspire people and encourage people to walk on a journey with God. If you have a gift of welcoming people you need to use it to make people feel welcome when they arrive at church or Kinetic. If you have the gift of leading worship this is a gift that will help people become closer to God. These talents if used and not wasted will shine a light for God so bright no one can ignore it.

So the question is what's your Stand ( for those of you not quite got it yet, TALENT/GIFT )
 and is it helping you to shine for God?
